Protected in a unique handcrafted concrete vessel, used for centuries in spiritual practices and sacred rituals by the Incas, shamans, healers, and indigenous communities of South America, in Equador and Peru, Palo Santo, meaning “holy wood” in Spanish, the slender sticks of wood that is burnt (much like sage) to release smoke and fragrance, come from the Palo Santo tree, which grows along the South American coast, and is related to other mystical woods, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Copal.
Part of the citrus family, containing sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon, our Palo Santo finds top notes of orange and amber, followed by a dark trio of woods. The base is smokey notes of Guaiacwood is wrapped with nuances of Balsam and warm Cedar.
